Academic appointees are eligible for the same retirement and insurance benefits as all Indiana University appointed employees. If appointed at 50% or greater FTE, academic employees are eligible to participate in the appropriate retirement plan, and are automatically enrolled at the time they are hired. Eligibility for health care benefits is limited to full time appointees, and becomes effective immediately at the time of hire, although the new appointee will be required to complete specific plan enrollment forms, which will be provided by the IUPUI Benefits Office.
Time off benefits for appointed academic employees differ based upon type of appointment. Specifically, these are categorized as vacation, sick leave, or paid family leave. Additionally, faculty members are eligible for sabbatical leaves.
