New Faculty Benefits Enrollment Sessions
Three orientation sessions have been scheduled this summer specifically for new faculty and other academic employees. The purpose of these sessions is to provide an overview of Indiana University’s benefit package. These sessions will assist new faculty to sort through the large amount of information involving the various benefit options and to enroll in their benefits in a thoughtful and timely manner. In order to accommodate their busy schedules, the faculty-specific sessions* have been shortened to 1 ½ hours to include an overview of the benefit plans and assistance in completing the enrollment form. Each “brown bag” session is scheduled from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., and faculty are free to bring their lunch and dine during the session.
As a second option, new faculty may choose to attend one of the benefit enrollment sessions held for staff employees every Tuesday afternoon from 1:00-4:30 p.m. in the Campus Center. New faculty should attend one of the following sessions and should attend the session that is closest to his/her appointment date.
The IUPUI Campus Center (CE) is located at 420 University Boulevard.
The Union Building (UN) is located at 620 Union Drive.
The
Columbus Campus Center (CC) is located at 4601 Central Avenue.
Tuesday, July 7 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, July 14 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, July 21 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, July 28 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, August 4 CE 268 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, August 11 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Wednesday, August 12* CC 259 10:00-12:00 Tuesday, August 18 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Friday, August 21* UN Roof Lounge, 6th Floor 12:00-1:30 Tuesday, August 25 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Friday, August 28* UN Roof Lounge, 6th Floor 12:00-1:30 Tuesday, September 1 CE 307 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, September 8 CE 305 1:00-4:30 Tuesday, September 15 CE 305 1:00-4:30
Since the primary focus of the information sessions is the actual enrollment process, new faculty should have their benefits packet, including their customized benefit enrollment form, prior to attending an information session. As a reminder, when the “hire edoc” prepared by your unit is entered into HRMS, the Benefit Program Enrollment Form specifically designed for the faculty member is automatically generated by HRMS. This personalized enrollment form will be included in a packet of benefit information and sent to the faculty member’s campus address.
We cannot provide a benefit packet prior to the approval of the hire edoc; however, general information on the benefit plans is available on the website at: www.hra.iupui.edu/HRA/benefits/.
We hope our new faculty will be pleased with these options that will assist them in sorting through a large amount of information and enrolling in their benefits in a thoughtful and timely manner.
Please contact the Benefits Office at 274-4596 or benefits@iupui.edu with any questions you may have.

Faculty Enrichment Opportunities
There are many workshops, discussions and presentations on campus of interest to faculty members. Here are a few we think will be of particular interest to new faculty.
The Cutting Edge Lecture Series invites Leading IUPUI professors to share their expertise and insights regarding the applications of their current research endeavors, with a particular emphasis on engaging non-specialists, including faculty and students from schools across IUPUI.
Scholarship at Lunch Time is an event series hosted by the Faculty Club where IUPUI faculty meet new colleagues and learn about various research initiatives on campus over lunch.
New Faculty Profiles
At IUPUI we like to showcase our faculty. We invite you to complete the new faculty profile form so you can be featured on the Academic Affairs website. We welcome you and look forward to your contributions.
