The development of an electronic faculty portfolio is underway. The Faculty ePort process began with a review of the current Faculty Annual Summary Report (FASR) practices, with a view toward incorporating that process within the Faculty ePort project. It has since been determined that the FASR will be built on a separate platform, with the intention as the Faculty ePort is developed to connect the two functionalities.

In the future, it is anticipated that the faculty ePortfolio would include components such as:

Professional Development Planner
Templates for entering standard curriculum vitae information (publications, presentations)
Locations for reflective commentary
Focused peer review comments
Capacity for supporting attachments (print, audio, video, graphic…)

We are confident that individual faculty, departments, schools and IUPUI as a whole will benefit from the faculty electronic portfolio as it will keep information in one location, eliminate the need to continually reformat data, enable display for robust peer review, show reflective components of faculty work, and integrate course portfolio, teaching portfolio, and professional portfolio concepts.

This project is still in its initial stages, but future assessment of its effectiveness will be based on 1) user satisfaction with the system, 2) documentation of the ways in which the system provides efficiencies to faculty and campus users, and 3) assessment of the impact on faculty professional development.
